LEDs have a primary lens affixed to the LED package to enhance light extraction out of the package. These primary lenses typically produce a wide-angle output pattern, which may not be optimal for the application. Reflectors mount on top of the LED and may be used as a secondary optic to better shape the output pattern required for the application. The output of a reflector has the classic high-intensity spot surrounded by a low-intensity spill pattern normally seen in flashlights. Reflectors are particularly well suited for use with multi-die LED packages. Arrow Lighting offers a broad selection of reflectors for a variety of applications.
