Fairchild Translators Provide Critical Functional Block Interconnect in Small Packaging

Broad portfolio of products provides customers a wide selection of translation
capabilities from 1.2V to 5V.

Continuing demands on system designers to put more functionality into less space has created challenges in design. Supply voltages for semiconductor products have dropped from their historic levels of 5V to as low as 1.2V or 1.1V. This drives a corresponding decrease in I/O voltages and an increasing likelihood that there will be multiple supply voltages in a system design, as processors and peripheral components increasingly operate at different supply levels. It is now common to see two or three different supply voltages in one system. This trend has created a need to interface functional blocks that operate at different supply and I/O levels. Fairchild's translators provide this interface function.
