Linear Technology’s Low Voltage, Encapsulated μModule™ DC/DC Regulator is Small, Thin, and Light

Analog IC designers, especially DC/DC regulator IC designers, may seem unappreciative of a digital IC designer's struggles as these zero-and-one magicians make the old technology disappear with the introduction of faster, more complex, and more exciting products. However, DC/DC regulator IC designers and packaging engineers also struggle with creative approaches to introduce DC/DC regulator solutions with better thermal performance, lower noise, and more compact sizes. After several years of research and testing, Linear Technology introduced a family of complete DC/DC regulator systems last year that include the inductor, MOSFETs, DC/DC controller, and compensation circuitry.
