Today’s electronic devices require more feature integration than ever before, and connectivity is often at the top of the list. The Blackfin ADSP-BF52x and BF54x series of processors provide connectivity via integrated USB 2.0 HS OTG MAC and PHY, 10/100 Ethernet MAC, serial interfaces such as I2C/TWI, UARTs, SPI, CAN, Serial ports, which provide easy interfaces to companion ICs such as 802.11Wi-Fi transceivers, Bluetooth transceivers, and Zigbee low-power wireless networking transceivers. In addition to these interfaces and easy connection to companion ICs, the Blackfin processors have the ability to run the required software stacks to support these interfaces, including USB stacks ported to Blackfin, Bluetooth stack, and TCP/IP stacks to support network interfaces.
The ADSP-BF52x and ADSP-BF54x Blackfin® processor families are optimized for performance-demanding portable applications including portable media players (PMPs), voice over IP (VoIP) phones, IP cameras, and mobile TV devices. With a core power as low as 0.16 mW/MHz at 250 MHz, the newest Blackfin processors give system designers room to innovate without increasing power consumption—or system cost.
The ADSP-BF52x series offers an array of high-performance/low-power options. This includes the ADSP-BF527, ADSP-BF525, and ADSP-BF523, which operate up to 600 MHz, and an ultra-low-power series, ADSP-BF522, ADSP-BF524, and ADSP-BF526, operating up to 400 MHz with excellent standby power dissipation.
The ADSP-BF54x further enhances the Blackfin portfolio and offers additional options for performance and power. The ADSP-BF542 and BF544 provide core performance ranging from 400 to 600MHz, the ADSP-BF547 and BF548 provide up to 533 MHz performance and the BF549 provides a full suite of connectivity options for automotive applications requiring up to 533MHz.
